It is said that the eye of a hurricane is calm and peaceful. If you’ve ever been through one, you know that is true.

Isn’t it crazy to think that such peace can be found inside this raging, chaotic activity? It reminds me of life. We can find ourselves in difficult situations and struggles, but eventually, this peace rushes over you. Some may call it reaching the point of insanity and others may say that the body can only produce so much adrenaline, cortisol, and norepinephrine. Others still, like me, believe that God is the answer to this sudden unexplained peace.

Who else can create calm within a storm? It does not make sense: a huge force that is so powerful and destructive has a tiny break of peace right in the center of it. Who else would have thought of that?

Today, I hope that if you are going through a hard time, you take just a few seconds and look to God. If you don’t know what to say, just say “God, this hurricane is too much. Please help me.” You will be surprised how fast His love, joy and peace will overwhelm you when you ask for it. Your past doesn’t matter, so don’t think that there is anything you have done that keeps you from approaching Him. I’m proof that God will answer anyone’s prayer as long as it is sincere.

I definitely do not have a spotless past. Despite the fact that I cheated on my ex-husband, have a few failed businesses under my belt,  have been fired from way more jobs than I care to admit, and have run into my now husband’s car not once but TWICE, I am able to have peace. That list gives you just a few things I have done in my life, but yet, God made me whole. I no longer let the weather in my life determine my outlook because I know that all of this junk is temporary and does not define who I am.

Whether or not your hurricane is self-made or beyond your control, it does not have to destroy you. It is only a seasonal occurrence. In the end, it breaks apart and becomes a thing of the past. Look for the eye (God), keep your focus on Him, and no matter what you are going through, you will thrive.

Never Lose Hope,
