On March 2, 1925, Dorothy Harris Potts was born. She was raised in Franklin by her father David Watts Billingslea and mother, Eleanor Maxwell Harris Billingslea. Dorothy died away in 1985 at the age of 85. She was laid to rest in the Greenlawn and Shady Rest Cemetery in Franklin, Simpson County, Kentucky, the United States.

    Dorothy rose to be known because of her daughter, Annie Potts, who is a famous American actress. Dorothy’s daughter most recently appeared in the CBS television series Young Sheldon, which is still airing in 2022.

    Dorothy was raised in Franklin where her family maintained a hardware and grocery shop. With her father being a horse trainer at the time, Dorothy has begun learning horse ride since her childhood. She thus developed a lifetime love for horse riding. She got her own pony when she was five years old, and she had no problems with hopping on and exploring the county by herself. She went to Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.

    Throughout her whole life, Dorothy continued to be an enthusiastic and successful horsewoman who was acclaimed and respected for her beautiful qualities.

    Marriage With Powell

    Dorothy first met Powell Grisette Pott in 1941 while performing in Bowling Green’s “The Boots & Saddles” nightclub. Powell served in the US Air Force during World War II as a pilot and flight instructor. By “buzzing” her house with his Air Corps jet, he managed to win her over. They got married in 1942. The couple lived on a farm near Franklin, where they raised their 3 daughters: Mary Eleanor Hovious, Elizabeth Grissette Potts and Annie Potts. Powell Grisette Pott founded and ran the Southern Stone Company and was the president of the National Limestone Institute.

    Dorothy Harris Potts’s Husband

    Powell Grissette Potts was born in 1909 in Fair Bluff, Columbus, North Carolina. Junius Smith Potts and Mary Grissette Powell Floyd were his parents. He used to like fishing and swimming when he was younger. He attended Oakridge Military Academy and then the United States Air Force Command and General Staff School. He passed away in 2006.

    On October 28th, 1952, Dorothy gave birth to Annie Potts. Annie was raised in Franklin, Kentucky, where she attended Franklin-Simpson High School. Like her mom, Annie Potts showed many talents even in an early age. At the age of 21, Potts was involved in an automobile accident that fractured almost all of her bones below her waist. Despite the misfortune, Annie never gave up hope. She later becomes an American actress who works in both film and television. She received various awards during her acting career.
